What is Ecomiki4kids.com?
Ecomiki4kids is an online world where children can have fun while learning about the environment. Children are encouraged to make their own unique contribution to sustaining our planet.

Children are creative, inquisitive and love learning. They love to play online games but, in our experience as parents of small children, we were unable to find suitable websites which communicated the message of protecting the planet and included fun games and other educational tools. We decided that there was a need for a website where young children could play games and learn about their world in a safe environment, away from the messages and advertising associated with websites which are aimed at older children or adults, somewhere that we'd be happy for our own children to spend time.

At Ecomiki4kids children can explore the site to learn about areas of the world such as the arctic and the rainforests. They can meet characters, including Olar the Polar Bear and his friends, and follow their stories. We place an emphasis on learning through play, so most of the games on the site have an environmental theme. Additionally, children can view tips offering advice on how to make a difference and contribute to protecting the environment, when carrying out day-to-day activities.

Who can use ecomiki4kids?
The site has been produced specifically for 3-9 year olds. However we're sure that the activities and opportunities to learn about the environment will also appeal to older children. We believe that the continual development of the site will be the most successful way of keeping the learning fun and developing children's educational skills.

How much does it cost to join ecomiki4kids?
Children can access selected areas of the site without becoming a member, although by joining Ecomiki4kids.com they will have full access to all of the activities on the site. Please visit our prices section for full details of current membership prices.

What should I say to my children about online safety?
Ecomiki4kids allows children to learn and play games without interacting directly with other people on the website. However online safety is important. We would recommend that you talk to your child about internet safety and include the following tips, along with your own guidelines.

  • Encourage children to tell parents, or a trusted grown up, straightaway if they are upset, worried or threatened by something that someone has said or done online, or if someone wants to know any of their personal information.
  • Advise children to keep their personal information confidential. This includes their name, age, telephone number, email address, home address or the name of their school.
  • Ask children to save any messages which have made them feel uncomfortable and show them to their parents, so that they can help. Reassure them not to worry about getting into trouble.
  • Warn children not to disclose their password to anyone apart from their parents or a trusted grown up. A password is private and nobody else should know what it is.
  • Children should not use their real name as their username, when they are playing interactive online games. We recommend that they use a nickname.
  • Parents and children should decide on a username together or, if they create their own username, they should tell parents what the username is.
  • Keep the computer in a communal area of the house, grown ups can monitor what children are viewing and are on hand should children have any questions.
